Group Therapy is a powerful and therapeutic intervention for children and adolescents. During group therapy, participants can learn about themselves through their interactions with others. Group therapy offers opportunities to use feedback, share feelings and help others to build problem solving skills and self esteem, as well as to gain acceptance and feel a sense of belonging.
Trauma Recovery Services offers many different types of group therapies which are detailed below.

Mental Health/Addictions Groups

It could be a struggle with anger management or depression; perhaps it's substance abuse or oppositional defiant behavior. Whatever the struggle is, group therapy is an effective way to help.
Social Skills Groups
- Ages: 4 to 21 years
Group therapy is one of the best ways to teach social skills to children who have disorders such as autism that prevent them from developing these skills on their own.
Grief and Loss
- Ages: 4 to 21 years
The loss of a parent or loved one can be very traumatic and have a lasting negative impact on a child’s life. When children go through a bereavement process, it can be helpful and comforting to have the support of their peers, who have also experienced loss.
Movement Groups
- Ages: 4 to 21 years
During the warm months, we will run outdoor movement groups, helping children and adolescents to reconnect to their bodies, while building self-esteem, helping develop healthy brains and learning to regulate their nervous systems. Making the body-mind connection is an important step in the process of healing. Parents are welcome to watch these groups.
